Roleplay Tips & Guidelines
Using D'Shalla in your RPG campaigns
One of the questions I get every so often is if you can use my character in an RPG campaign you are doing. And the answer is: of course! So to help explain more about who the character is and how to use her in your stories, I like to write this section to go over the details.
While many of my other OCs are rather serious characters, D’Shalla is definitely not one of those. She is, in a word, ridiculous. Obsessed with fame and fortune, glitz and glam… there’s not much else she pays attention to out there. But here’s some things to keep in mind if you’d like to use D’Shalla in your TTRPGs:
- Some great characters to draw inspiration from would be Goldie from Rock-a-Doodle, the Bond girls from early James Bond movies, Tracy Jordan from 30 Rock… by now you’re maybe sensing a theme. Over the top, airhead, utterly helpless/useless.
- Damsel in Distress tropes? She’s got them by the dozen. She finds herself in troubling situations more than she’d like to admit, and generally just assumes someone will come along to save her.
- D’Shalla is backed by Alyra (my criminal queenpin OC). While D’Shalla keeps her nose out of Alyra’s affairs, she’s well aware of the backstage deals happening behind the scenes while she serenades Alyra’s patrons
Ideas for Using D'Shalla in Roleplay
Protect the celebrity
As mentioned above, D’Shalla finds herself ‘inconvenienced’ a lot. Maybe she’s been kidnapped. Maybe she’s got a situation she needs help with, and discreetly reaches out to the crew out of hopes to keep it out of the tabloids. The possibilities are endless, really.
Give the crew some intel
As a frequent singer in the Kyber Rose Cantina, D’Shalla hears all kinds of things people would rather stay a secret. She has no particular need for secrets, so she might be willing to volunteer some rumors she’s heard to someone charming enough.
Convince her to help the crew
Star power can go a long way, in the right places. Earn D’Shalla’s favor, and she might just be able to open some doors for you. Need access to a VIP section somewhere? No cantina would ever turn her down. Need an in with the rich and powerful? Many would be eager to receive her holocall.
